OLD FRIENDS AND GOOD TIMES

Sherry and I visited some old friends from High School and College. The Haggard Ranch is just inside the Bexar County line on I35S.  The Haggard family have 250 acres and were hosting a San Antonio Audubon group.  Harry Haggard who lives in Canada had come back for a short visit and we went to see him and other friends who were also meeting at the family ranch.  Metha Haggard, Harry's sister manages the ranch on her own oil wells, cattle, fishing leases and keeping this unique old family residence alive.

Harry and I go back to early days at Northside (John Marshall) High School. We played football together and were in classes together.  Her along with 5 other classmates all went to Texas A&M. Harry and I even worked a summer job together in Selma Alabama doing pipeline work for HB Zachery.  Harry was an A&M Yell Leader and I was a Unit Commander and Class Officer.  We both worked on the A&M Annual - I was Business Editor and Harry did the art work for our senior annual.

Other old friends there were Will Rogers (HS & A&M classmate too) and JoAnne Hyatt (HS Classmate) .

I met up with the birders being led by Harry and then stayed long after to swap tales and have some good food prepared my Metha and others.

During the bird walk I took a couple of pictures - Eastern Bluebird and Western Pygmy Blue butterfly.
