Howdy from Texas Hill Country

The Texas Hill Country noted for its wildflowers in spring and crystal clear rivers, is also home to some of the most endangered bird wildlife in the United States. The Golden Cheeked Warbler, a Texas endemic and the Black-capped Vireo found only in Texas and Oklahoma. The state bird is the Northern Mockingbird.

During a wet spring, the wildflowers can become so dense that the land appears to have been dyed red, blue and yellow. The Bluebonnet is the state flower.

Some of the popular Hill Country rivers include the Guadalupe, Frio, Pedernales, and Medina. All fed by ancient springs that flow crystal clear over limestone beds. The state fish is the Guadalupe Bass.
