RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY

From May 29-June 2 we had 12 inches of rain, 10 inches in 4 hours on the 29th.  Washed away part of our walkway to the barn and a lot of road that was not paved.

Most of the gravel washed away leaving bare ground.

THREE NEW RANCH BIRD SPECIES

Each year it gets a little harder to add new species of anything to the ranch list, but so far this year one new lep and 3 new birds....

Black-headed Grosbeak that stayed around for several days

Number 2 was a Blue-winged Warbler that stayed about 45 seconds - just long enough to take a bath and head out...

The third new bird was an Olive-sided Flycatcher that sat high on our Sotol Yucca that was in bloom

This was also our second record of a Bullock's Oriole

And our second Green-tailed Towhee in the same year stayed around for a week

Plus this Scott's Oriole sang and munched on our Prickly Pear flowers for a couple of weeks...
